Event Lighting in Los Angeles: A Complete Guide to Packages, Effects, and What to Expect

What Is Event Lighting and Why Does It Matter?

Event lighting is the use of professional fixtures, effects, and programming to shape the way a space looks and feels during your event. It goes far beyond putting up some string lights or turning down the house dimmers.

Good event lighting does several things at once. It creates a mood. draws attention to the right places, like your head table, dance floor, or stage. hides parts of the room that do not need to be seen. And in photos and video, and makes everything look polished and intentional.

Bad lighting, on the other hand, can make even a beautiful venue look flat, harsh, or just forgettable. That is why lighting is one of the most important decisions you will make for your event, right up there with the venue itself.

Types of Event Lighting We Offer

stage and event lighting fixture options for event lighting on Los Angeles

Here is a breakdown of every type of affordable Event lighting options we carry and what each one does.

Uplighting

Uplighting is one of the most popular and effective tools in event design. These are LED fixtures placed on the floor around the perimeter of a room, pointing up at the walls. They wash the walls in color and completely transform the feel of a space.

You can match uplighting to your wedding colors, your brand colors for a corporate event, or your party’s theme. We can change the colors throughout the night to match different parts of the program, like shifting from white during dinner to purple and gold during the dancing.

Wash Lights on Heavy-Duty Poles

Wash lights are broad, even light sources that cover a large area with smooth color. We mount ours on heavy-duty 10-foot poles, which means we can light areas that floor-based fixtures simply cannot reach. This is especially useful for larger venues, outdoor spaces, and tented events where wall mounting is not an option.

Moving Heads

Moving heads are motorized fixtures that can pan, tilt, change color, and project patterns in real time. They are the lights you see sweeping across dance floors at concerts and high-energy events. For weddings and Mitzvahs, we program moving heads to react to the music during dancing portions, keeping the energy high and the visuals exciting.

Pin Spotting

Pin spotting uses a tight, focused beam of light to highlight specific objects. The most common use is lighting the centerpieces on each table to make them stand out during dinner. Without pin spots, a beautifully designed centerpiece can get lost in the ambient light of a room. With them, every table looks like it was photographed for a magazine.

Gobo Projectors and Custom Monograms

A gobo is a metal or glass disc with a pattern cut into it that gets placed inside a lighting fixture. When light shines through it, it projects that pattern onto a wall, floor, or ceiling. One of the most popular uses is projecting a couple’s names or monogram onto the wall or dance floor at a wedding.

We design custom gobos for each event, so your monogram or logo is unique to you. It is one of those small details that makes a huge impression in person and looks stunning in photos.

String Lights and Bistro Lights

String lights and bistro lights create a warm, romantic canopy effect. They are especially popular for outdoor weddings, vineyard events, and any venue where you want that soft, glowing look overhead. We use commercial-grade strand lights designed for events, not the kind you find at a hardware store.

Custom Truss Structures

For larger events and full production setups, we build custom truss structures to hang lighting rigs overhead. This is the approach used at concerts, large corporate events, and high-production galas. Truss opens up a completely different level of design possibility because fixtures can be positioned anywhere in three-dimensional space.

LED Screens LED Dance Floors, and Video Projectors

LED Screens, LED Dance Floors, Video Projectors with screens for events in Los Angeles

We carry large-format LED screens and high-lumen laser projectors for events that require video display. This includes slideshows and photo montages, live event feeds, social media walls, branded content for corporate events, and custom video backdrops. We have worked with laser projectors at major venues including the LA Convention Center, Long Beach Convention Center, and Palm Springs Convention Center.

LED Dance Floors

Our LED dance floors are among the most popular things we bring to any event. These illuminated floors light up from within, creating a show-stopping centerpiece for your dance floor. They photograph beautifully and instantly elevate the look of any room.

Charlie put it perfectly in his review: “We worked with them to install a light-up dance floor and Big Shiny Balls (giant PVC, metallic reflective balloons). It completely transformed our wedding space, left our guests awestruck, and provided the perfect backdrop for our wedding reception.”

Harry C agreed: “The illuminated dance floor was a show stopper and the tech stayed on hand to make sure all of the lighting was flawless after the sun went down.”

Special Effects for Weddings and Events

Special Effects for Weddings and Events, Cold sparks, Co2 Jets, Low- Lying fog, Confetti, Vertical Fog Machine, Colorful fog jet, Fake Fire rentals for events on Los Angeles

Special effects are the moments people are still talking about when they leave. Here is everything we offer and what each effect does.

Cold Sparkle Machines

Cold spark machines create tall, shimmering fountains of sparkling light. Unlike traditional pyrotechnics, cold sparks are safe to use indoors. They are not fire and they do not burn. The effect is spectacular during a first dance entrance, grand entrance, or key moment during a celebration.

Cold sparks have become one of the most requested effects for weddings and Bar and Bat Mitzvahs in Los Angeles. They photograph and film beautifully, and they create a moment the room reacts to instantly.

CO2 Jets

CO2 jets shoot pressurized bursts of cold white fog up to 20 feet into the air. They are incredibly dramatic and work best during high-energy dance sets or as a grand finale effect. We often use CO2 jets in sync with the music to create maximum impact.

Low Lying Fog Machine

A low lying fog machine creates a ground-level cloud of fog that stays close to the floor. The result is a dreamy, ethereal look that is especially popular for first dances. The couple appears to be floating above the clouds. It is one of those effects that seems simple but creates an unforgettable visual.

Haze Machine

A haze machine fills a space with a very fine, barely visible mist that makes beams of light from moving heads and wash lights visible in the air. Without haze, light beams go from fixture to surface without you seeing them in between. With haze, you see the full beam cutting through the air, which makes the lighting dramatically more dynamic and immersive.

LED Vertical Fog Machines

LED vertical fog machines combine upward-shooting fog with colored LED lighting built into the unit. They create columns of glowing, colored fog that rise from the floor. They work beautifully on dance floors and around event perimeters.

Colorful Fog Jets

Colorful fog jets are handheld or stand-mounted units that shoot bursts of brightly colored fog. They are fun, energetic, and popular at Mitzvahs and parties where you want guests to feel like they are part of the show.

Fake Fire Effects

Our fake fire fixtures simulate the look of real fire using LED technology and moving fabric or foil. They are completely safe, require no fuel or heat, and can be placed anywhere. They work especially well for themed events, fantasy aesthetics, or as dramatic stage dressing.

Event Lighting Packages

We offer two main package categories: Venue Lighting Packages and Party Lighting Packages. Packages are priced based on venue size, number of fixtures, and services included.

Our Most Popular: Venue Lighting Package 3

This is the package most of our wedding and gala clients choose. It includes:

Uplighting throughout the venue perimeter

Wash lights on heavy-duty 10-foot poles for full room coverage

Custom gobo monogram projected on a wall or floor

Delivery, setup, and breakdown

On-site Lighting Director (LD) for the full event

Having an on-site LD means someone is managing the lighting in real time throughout your event. They adjust colors, trigger effects at the right moments, and make sure nothing goes wrong. This is not a set-it-and-forget-it setup. It is a live production.

Party Lighting Packages

Party Lighting Packages with different setups for parties in Los Angeles

Our party lighting packages are designed for celebrations where the priority is energy on the dance floor. Moving heads, LED effects, and DJ lighting combine to keep the night going. Popular for Mitzvahs, birthday parties, quinceañeras, and corporate parties.

Custom and Full Production Builds

For larger events, corporate productions, and venues that need truss structures, LED screens, projection mapping, or multi-room setups, we build custom quotes. We have handled full production at the LA Convention Center, MBS Media Campus, and Long Beach Convention Center, so no venue or scale is out of reach.

Event lighting packages start at $999 and go up to $9,999 for full production events. The price depends on venue size, the number of fixtures, special effects included, travel, and whether you need a full crew on site.

How the Planning Process Works

DMX Lighting Event Lighting Rental Los Angeles Lighting Design LED Lights Event Planning Technology

We do not just show up the day of and hope for the best. Here is what you can expect when you work with us.

Step 1: Consultation. We talk through your event, vision, venue, and budget. If you have inspiration photos, bring them. If you are not sure what you want yet, we will guide you through the options.

Step 2: Venue Walkthrough. For most events, we do a walkthrough of the venue before the event date. This lets us measure the space, identify power sources, note any ceiling heights or structural limits, and plan exactly where every fixture will go.

Step 3: Lighting Plot and Plan. We produce a detailed lighting plot, which is a technical diagram showing the exact placement of every fixture in the room. You get to review this and approve it before we build anything. There are no surprises.

Step 4: Load-In and Setup. Our crew arrives early, well before guests show up. We handle all installation, cable management, programming, and testing. By the time the doors open, everything is running perfectly.

Step 5: On-Site Management. Depending on your package, we have a lighting director or technician on site for the duration of your event. They manage the lighting in real time and can adapt if the timeline shifts.

Leo H described the experience well: “They provided four HD projectors with four fast-fold screens, a full sound system, an LED dance floor, and stage lighting. The entire process was very smooth, from booking and communication to planning and final on-site execution. Everything was organized, professional, and ran exactly as expected.”

Frequently Asked Questions About Event Lighting

LED CO2 Cannon Jet Machine Rental service for Angels Music Productions2 2

How much does event lighting cost in Los Angeles?

Our event lighting packages start at $999 and go up to $9,999 for full production events. The price depends on venue size, number of fixtures, which effects are included, the distance we need to travel, and how long the crew needs to be on site. We are transparent about pricing from day one, no hidden fees.

What is the difference between uplighting and wash lights?

Uplighting fixtures sit on the floor and point upward toward walls, creating a color wash effect around the perimeter of a room. Wash lights are mounted on poles or truss and cover broader areas from above or the side. The two work well together for full room coverage.

Are cold spark machines safe for indoor events?

Yes. Cold spark machines use a special granular material that produces sparkle effects at a low temperature. They do not produce open flame and are approved for indoor use. We have used them at dozens of indoor weddings and celebrations without issue.

Do you need to visit the venue before the event?

For most events, yes. A venue walkthrough lets us plan properly and avoids day-of surprises. We produce a detailed lighting plot so you know exactly what the setup will look like before we ever load in a single fixture.

Can you match the lighting to my wedding colors?

Absolutely. Our LED fixtures are fully programmable and can produce virtually any color. We often work from Pantone color codes or photos to match uplighting, wash lights, and effects to the exact palette you have chosen.

Do you provide lighting only, or can you bundle with DJ and AV services?

We offer lighting as a standalone service, but we are also a full-service DJ and audio visual company. Many clients bundle DJ, sound, LED screens, lighting, and special effects into one package. Having one company manage everything means better coordination and one point of contact.

What areas do you serve?

We are based in Valley Village, Los Angeles and serve events throughout Los Angeles County, Orange County, Ventura County, San Bernardino, Kern County, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, San Diego, and Las Vegas.

How far in advance should I book?

For weddings and large events, we recommend booking as early as possible. Popular dates in spring and fall fill up quickly. For smaller events, a few weeks is usually enough, but earlier is always better.

What Sets Angels Music Productions Apart

The Ritz-Carlton, Luxury wedding and corporate events venue in Los Angeles California

There are a lot of event lighting companies in Los Angeles. Here is why clients keep coming back to us and referring their friends.

Plan every event with a lighting plot. Not every company does this. A lighting plot is a technical document showing the exact placement of every fixture. It means you know exactly what you are getting, and our crew knows exactly what to build.

Have real experience at real venues. We have worked at the Beverly Hilton, Hotel Bel-Air, Skirball Center, Disneyland Hotel, and dozens of other venues across Southern California. We know the rooms, the rules, and the challenges.

Stay on site. Our lighting directors do not drop off gear and leave. For full production events, we have someone managing the lighting for the entire night.

We are a full-service company. Lighting, sound, DJ, LED dance floors, LED screens, photo booths, special effects. One call, one contract, one team.

Maria A summed it up well: “Thank you, Angels Music crew, for giving us the best wedding experience we could have hoped for. These guys are professionals through and through, and they know how to keep your party going. The pricing is fair and transparent.”

And from Jenny A: “Working with Asi and Angels Music was an easy and great experience. They helped bring our 80s-themed party to life. Will definitely use them again and recommend to anyone who wants a hassle-free, full-service event.”
