50 Best Bar Mitzvah Songs for 2027: The Ultimate Playlist
Bar Mitzvah Songs at a Glance
Picking the music is one of the most fun parts of planning a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. It is also one of the hardest, because the room holds 13 year olds, parents and grandparents who all want something different. We have played more than 1,000 events since 2015, including many Bar and Bat Mitzvahs across Los Angeles, and these are the songs that fill the dance floor again and again.
The short answer: the most requested Bar Mitzvah songs right now are Hava Nagila and Siman Tov U Mazel Tov for the Hora, Golden Boy by Nadav Guedj, APT. by ROSÉ and Bruno Mars, Uptown Funk, I’m Good (Blue) by David Guetta and Bebe Rexha, and Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey. A good playlist mixes Hebrew and Israeli hits, current pop for the kids and classics the grandparents know. Below you will find 50 party songs plus picks for the Hora, the entrance, candle lighting and the montage.

Hora and Israeli Bar Mitzvah Songs
The Hora is the high point of most Bar and Bat Mitzvah parties. Guests dance in a circle, then the Bar Mitzvah boy or Bat Mitzvah girl is lifted up on a chair, followed by the parents and often the siblings and grandparents. Our MC leads the Hora and calls up volunteers from the guests to lift the chairs. These are the songs we play most:
- Hava Nagila (traditional). The best known Hora song in the world and the usual start of the chair lift.
- Siman Tov U Mazel Tov (traditional). A happy song of good luck and congratulations that gets the circle going.
- Od Yishama (traditional). A joyful song with a fast beat that keeps the circle moving.
- Hevenu Shalom Aleichem (traditional). Easy to sing, so every guest can join in.
- Am Yisrael Chai. A proud song that often closes the Hora with everyone on their feet.
After the Hora we keep going with Israeli hits such as Golden Boy and Mahapecha Shel Simcha. For more, read our guide to Hava Nagila and Hora songs.
Bar Mitzvah Entrance Songs
The grand entrance sets the mood for the whole party. Pick a song with a strong start so the room is clapping before the Bar Mitzvah reaches the dance floor. Favorites we play:
- Hall of Fame by The Script featuring will.i.am
- Believer by Imagine Dragons
- Golden Boy by Nadav Guedj
- Can’t Hold Us by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis
- Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars
- Levels by Avicii
Tip: ask your DJ to start the song at the chorus or the drop, so the energy hits right when the doors open.
Candle Lighting Songs
At many Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, family and friends are called up to light candles on the cake, usually 13 plus one for good luck. Each group gets a short song. Here are simple picks:
- Grandparents: What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong
- Aunts and uncles: Lean on Me by Bill Withers
- Cousins: We Are Family by Sister Sledge
- Friends: Count on Me by Bruno Mars
- Siblings: You’ve Got a Friend in Me by Randy Newman
- Friends from school or camp: Good Time by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen
- Parents, the last candle: My Wish by Rascal Flatts
Keep each song to 30 to 60 seconds so the candle lighting moves along.
Bar Mitzvah Montage Songs
The photo montage usually plays during dinner. Choose two or three songs that follow the story from baby photos to today. Songs that work well:
- Forever Young by Alphaville
- Photograph by Ed Sheeran
- 7 Years by Lukas Graham
- Never Grow Up by Taylor Swift
- The Climb by Miley Cyrus
- Home by Phillip Phillips
- Humble and Kind by Tim McGraw
- A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman
Plan about 3 minutes of music for every 50 to 60 photos. See more ideas in our list of Bar Mitzvah montage songs. We can also show your montage on a projector and screen.
Songs for a Bat Mitzvah
Almost every song on this list works for a Bat Mitzvah too. Many Bat Mitzvah playlists lean more toward pop sing alongs, so we often add artists like Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo and Dua Lipa, along with the same Hora songs and Israeli hits. For more ideas, see our Bat Mitzvah playlist guide or meet our Bat Mitzvah DJ team.
How Our DJs Build a Bar Mitzvah Playlist
Before the event we go over your must play songs, your do not play list and the special moments with you. Our DJs speak English, Hebrew, Spanish and Persian, so we can mix Israeli and Persian hits with Top 40 and read the room for both the kids and the adults. We play clean versions for a family crowd. Our MC runs the Hora, the candle lighting and the announcements, so you can enjoy the party.
Angels Music Productions was founded in 2015 by DJ Asi Vidal and has played more than 1,000 events across Los Angeles. See our Bar Mitzvah DJ page for packages and videos.
